Overplaying the Savonarola card

clock June 7, 2007 20:43 by author indey
The main idea was the impact of Political Accusations on civilians.

The recent denial for trial of Ms.Mayawati by the governor of Uttar Pradesh mr.TM Rajeshwar has raised many apprehensions as BSP's candidate for Presidential elections.

The author then cites various occasions where political accusations were order of the day by one political party on other.Let it be by BJP on congress for Volcker case or the latter on BJP for the coffin issue on Defence minister, in which leaders focussed only demoralising the probalble convicts rather than orderin a unbiased look.

The power of CBI is also cocked when comes to senior political leaders and their demand for full autonmy resulted in another body which overlooks it.

The author concludes that this kind of accusational politics has a deteriorating effect on civialians in two ways. First, people loose faith on the polical leaders and secondly it creates a king of aversion in public affairs

France's new President does his own thing

clock June 6, 2007 22:27 by author indey
The main idea was to caution everyone to watch Nicholas Sarkovy, France's new President, that he may become next Napolean. With the humungous power vested with him he can take any step which may result in swaying of the nation to either extremes.

In the recently concluded polls his party is allmost set to win and form the government and append more power to him.
The author also tells us that Nicholas apes his American counterparts and spends a ostentatious luxurious life and even supports him. This was evident when he attended the party hosted by some of the France's richest people while his supported waited for his winning gesture.

He already started showing signs by ripping off some vital powers from govt officials and vesting them with his own confidants. He is clear in his intentions that he intends to bring France to the centre of World Affairs and already working in that direction.

But some people are apprehensive that the behemoth power which vests with him may take its toll resulting in a rather not good outcome.

The author concludes that everyone should keep an eye on him.

Leveraging climate change concerns

clock June 5, 2007 20:23 by author indey
The main theme was how to decrease the global warming which has become a quite intriguing. The world responded in a quite laudable way when the mother Earth faced the ozone layer deplation. All the nations irrespective of their development status had come together and faced the situation in a formidable way resulting in montreal pact which required the nations to curb the usage of CFC's in refrigeration and other related fields. The task was carried out and now the the hole in ozone layer is filled upto 20% and will reach normal state in next 50 years.
The proactiveness ans feel of responsibility is not evident in present day problem ie Global Warming. Various scientists have given various reports indicating the state in which we are in. The only reason which is plausible for non proactiveness is the impact on development because of reducing the green houses. Many developing countries feel that it is the responsibility of developed nations to curb the green house gases which had their major involvement. But that doesnot stop from keepin the developing nations aside and let them contribute to the already behemoth global warming.
Developing nations should infact adopt to develop in a cleaner way ie using clean energy methods. For instance, India and China have coal based fossil fuels as their major sources for energy security. In India itself it counts upto 2/3rds of total energy supply. This contributes adversely to Global warming as Coal is the largest container of coal.
Developed nations must come to thier rescue by providing technology support to the developing nations. The globalization is indeed a barricade in such matters which makes the patented technology hardly come to the needy.
But, if these global warming is neglected then our coming generation will bequeath a not so good place to live in.
